Available Retirees

G.R.A.C.E. believes that prospective adopters should have a chance to learn about the greyhounds available. See what they look like, ask questions about particular dogs, and ultimately choose a greyhound who will best suit their circumstances and enrich their lives.

  • We help adopters choose dogs by providing detailed information about each dog and offering suggestions about which dogs would work best in the adopter’s environment.

  • We do not place a dog in a home without the adopters full involvement in the decision-making process.

  • All families with children ages 5 and younger must have a fenced in yard to adopt.

  • Please click on the application tab to complete the application.

  •   Please feel free to follow up with us regarding your application at 734-558-4218 if you have not heard from us within 72 hours of submitting your application. Thank you so much for your interest in adopting or fostering a greyhound, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Below are our current Available Retirees.  Feel free to pick one, or several, to become your new family pet!  Remember, greyhounds are like potato chips…you can’t have just one.

Note:  We have a large number of applications and we are working them as fast as we can.  If you submitted an application please be patient….we are getting more greyhounds in and will be working to help you find your fast friend.

Hello my name is Mr. Wilson and I am a special needs boy looking for my forever home.

Hi my name is Mr Wilson and I am a very special boy. I am a special needs greyhound...what does that mean? Well I have had a couple of seizures and am on medication to help. I am also on thyroid medication. The medication that I am on is not expensive but I will need to get it twice a day to maintain my levels.

I am a sweet boy that can be active and silly. I do love to run in the back yard and play with the other greys. I get along well with other breeds of dogs too and even like those things that are fluffy....what do they call them? ...hmmm oh cats!

I do like to play with toys and especially toys that have squeakers. I like fluffy toys too...well I like all toys!

My foster mom says I know my name...well of course I"m Mr. Wilson. I do come when called. I do well on a leash and am great with people. I have been to a couple of meet and greets and love all the people I meet. I ride pretty good in a car. I can get in and out with no problem. I can do stairs as long as they are not slippery...I don't want to fall.

I don't get on furniture and sleep on the dog beds at night. I am a sweet loving boy that just needs a little more effort on my new homes part because of my problems with seizures...but we seem to have them under control...so won't you please consider me!!!

Please I'm waiting!

Hi my name is Nedra and I am came to GRACE from Kansas. I did have a pretty good racing career (127 races), had one litter of pups and now am ready to find that couch to call my own because my foster parents won’t let me on theirs. They kick me off their bed as well and make me sleep on a dog bed on the floor.

They also don’t let me counter surf. Sure are a lot of rules to learn in this new life! They do give me treats when I am a good girl and pet me all the time. They aren’t all bad. And they do fuss over me a lot. So I do my best to do what they ask like use the dog door to go outside when the need arises.

I don’t argue with the other hounds in the house. I am very quiet and stay close so if they want to pet me, I am available. I walk very well when they take me out on a leash. And I like to ride in the car. I figured the stairs out really quickly.

If you don’t have any cats, I’d just love to meet you so you could see for yourself what a refined lady I am. I’ll let you give me an ear rub.

Hi, my name is Ash. My foster dad likes to call me Ashly sometimes. I came to GRACE from Kansas. I did have a pretty good racing career (140 races)than I went onto my second career as a mom to 12+ pups. Now it is time for me to start the next phase of my life as a family member and pet.

I’m doing very well in my foster home. I have several other hounds to live with. The first few days I kind of followed their lead but I now know the ropes and like to lead the pack so they don’t miss out on anything. I am a very happy girl. I do have to admit I get a little noisy when I am excited. I know Greyhounds aren’t supposed to bark but I can’t help it when I’m excited.

It took me a few days to figure out the stairs but they are a breeze now. I use the dog door whenever I need to. I love to nest in the piles of comforters on the floor. Furniture, what is that for? When my foster parents sit on the floor, I lay in their lap; soooooo comfy! I absolutely LOVE attention and follow my foster parents all over the house. When they are sitting somewhere, I lay my head in their lap so they can lavish me with pets. I like to lay on the kitchen floor when my foster mom is working in there so she won’t be lonely.

I do my best not to counter surf, but some smells are really hard not to try and investigate. I am very comfortable sleeping on a dog bed in the bedroom after I’ve adjusted it to fit my needs. It does sometimes disturb me when others walk past me at night and I grumble at them to lay back down and be still. I like everyone in the car to stay laying down too and sometimes have to remind them.

I have always been with other Greyhounds but I think I could be happy as an only as long as I get plenty of attention from my wonderful new parents. I do have high prey drive so don’t ask me to live with any of those cat things. They look too much like a squirrel to resist. You may have to remind me not to try and chase squirrels and rabbits when we are on walks, which I do very well on a leash. What do you think, would you like to give me a try?

Hi my name is Dino and I came to GRACE with my brother Dracula. I have been placed in my new foster home to learn confidence. I am really shy and need lots of leash work....right now I act like a mule...but my foster mom has lots of patience and will work me through it.

I am a sweet boy that does like kids and tested cat safe. I do great with the other greys in my foster home. I have not had any accidents in the house and go out with the others but do sometimes hang back when coming in. I will need a fenced in yard and a home with another dog.

I will accept people on my terms. I am a sweet boy that will need time to adjust to a new home...so anyone interested in me will need patience and help me celebrate little advances. I may not do well in a home with small children because I tend to run fast when I face new challenges and might knock them over....not meaning too but I am a big boy.

I have discovered the toys in my foster home and love to play. I also like to chew on bones and super chewer toys. I have no food aggression and have a healthy hardy appetite.

i My name is Quick and I came to Michigan from Kansas. I a sweet, but a little shy boy who wants to find a forever home. I just came to GRACE however, my sisters Quiz and Quincy have already been adopted by GRACE Families. My brother Quake also came to GRACE for adoption.

My foster parents is working to get me ready for adoption. They were very considerate in giving me time to adjust to them as I didn’t know them when I arrived at their home. It took me a week or so before I felt comfortable with them and let them pet me. Then they taught me about treats. Oh man was that great! Now I come to them because they might give me a wonderful treat.

They also have lots of toys for me to play with. Toys are so much fun to toss around and chew on. Sometimes I take them outdoors to play with. Squirrels, are they ever fascinating! And there are lots of them in the yard. I run after them and jump up the tree and bounce around under it trying to convince them to come down and play. I’ve chased a few rabbits and butterflies in the yard too. What fun!

I’m getting more comfortable with the visitors that come to my foster home so don’t shy away from them so much. When I’m resting in the house, I prefer to nap up in the dog bedroom. It is much quieter up there. My foster sister Tulip keeps me company because that’s where she like to nap too.

I’m doing pretty good at not counter surfing and don’t bother getting on the furniture. I still need practice with leash walking and am ok with riding in the car. Stairs are a breeze. Did I mention I love to eat? Breakfast and dinner are my favorite times of the day.

Do you have room in your heart and home for a sweet boy like me? I'm waiting!!

Stay tuned for more updates.

Hi My name is Tulip and I came to GRACE from Kansas. I was bred to race but didn't make it that far. My mom PJ Runthemdown also named Tulip was already adopted by a GRACE Family and now it is my turn.

I am a bit reserved so I will need a quiet home that has patience and will work with me. I am partial to women; men are scary. My foster mom has been great at giving me space and not forcing me to do things I am not comfortable with. My safe place in their home is the bed in the dog bedroom. I spend most of my time there. My foster mom quietly comes in and gently does what she needs to like put my muzzle on, gives me a few gentle pets and a treat. The treat makes it much more pleasant. I’m deciding she isn’t so bad so usually follow her to the bedroom door when she slowly leaves. I’ve even dared to give her a few kisses from behind. I like her back better than her front.

I’m real nervous when people look me straight in the eyes. I’ve learned the routine of the house and don’t miss out on much even thought I like to stay in the shadows. I’m even getting brave enough to come look at the visitors that come to the house. There is one that comes almost every day and I am getting quite comfortable standing in the background while she is here. I’ve even stopped running to the dog bedroom when she looks and talks to me.

I’m still working on house manners. I was real bad at counter surfing at night when the house was quite but have pretty much stopped because there isn’t anything to surf for any more. The papers and other objects were such fun to play with but they aren’t there anymore.

I don’t get on any furniture but the bed in the dog bedroom. I have no problem with the stairs. I am not good on a leash and really need a harness so I don’t get loose when I bolt. Once I get in the car, I’m ok until it’s time to get out. That scares me and I need help. I do like to play with the dog toys when no one is around. I don’t quite get what the pack is running after in the yard so I trail behind because that seems like the thing to do.

I’m trying to expand my horizons but it’s tough when your real shy.

Hi Maddie here! I have an outgoing, friendly personality that people seem to really like. I love to be petted, fussed over, and belly rubs! I get along well with the other dogs and had a lot of fun playing with a corgi the other day, but....I do not like cats!

I really enjoy little humans and am quite gentle around them. I love to go for rides, can do stairs, am not afraid of slippery floors and will potty on lead, although I do pull a bit on lead.

Just so you know, I do get on the furniture but that's just because I want to snuggle with you! My mom says I'm a "plug 'n' play" dog except for 1 thing: I'm scared of thunder and fireworks. Why must there be loud noises in the sky?

If you like a happy-go-lucky kinda gal, then you're sure to love me!
